
Disney said Wednesday it is postponing the mid-July reopening of Disneyland and California Adventure until it receives guidelines from the state. The Six Flags announcement came as the state’s most high-profile theme park operator pulled back on its reopening plan.

The park said its full reopening, including rides, will occur at a future date. Visitors are encouraged to purchase parking online in advance to minimize on-site contact with staff. Other zoos in California have announced plans to begin reopening soon, including the San Francisco Zoo. Talks by animal care staff and other demonstrations will take place in outdoor venues. The park announced Thursday it will open July 2 to members and July 4 to the general public as “The Marine World Experience,” an animals-only attraction. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo will open its gates to visitors next week for the first time since its mid-March coronavirus shutdown - though rides will not initially operate as the amusement park phases in its reopening with new health requirements.
